Jewel wasn’t born in Alaska, but she moved there shortly after she was born, and her family‘s roots in the state run deep. I used 26 license plates to create this license plate guitar.

Just as license plates travel the road, Jewel traveled across Alaska with her father playing music. You can see that symbolism in the people marching across the Alaska tags I used. They looked to me like a band setting up to practice. Jewel’s songs are about love, which I wrote across the face. A heart is on display in the center hole. The Michigan tag is the M in her hit song, U Were Meant 4 Me.
