Since this license plate guitar exhibit will be shown at ArtPrize10 in Grand Rapids, I took a lot of time considering which great artist to feature. I polled many people from the area, but in the end, chose Stevie Wonder because I wanted a Michigan born musician who could help me pay tribute to the Motown sound.

When I was digging through my tags, I discovered that the vintage Michigan license plates are the same colors as the Motown logo.

I used 26 license plates to create this license plate guitar. Motown is written on the the lower bridge. I used license plates to recreate Stevie’s iconic image in a mosaic style. It is featured in the center hole.
